The Department of Educational Psychology's special education licensure program hosts an annual event during Teacher Appreciation Week called We Appreciate U!

Dr. Andrew Zieffler was one of the recipients of the 2024 Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education. Zieffler was given the award for the outstanding contributions he has made to graduate and professional education.

At the QME Annual Student Awards Luncheon on April 30, three PhD students were presented with awards for their contributions to the Department of Educational Psychology's quantitative methods in education (QME) program.

At the 2024 CEHD Spring Assembly, five Ed Psych faculty members were recognized with awards. These awards are presented to CEHD faculty and staff nominated by peers and colleagues to acknowledge their outstanding work in the college.

Many of the Department of Educational Psychology's special education program faculty, students, and alumni attended and presented at the 56th Gatlinburg Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

On March 21, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching licensure and MEd program in the special education program held the UMN Deaf and Hard of Hearing Licensure Preparation Recruitment and Community Building Event.

The IGDILab was chosen as one of the 9 finalists in the Instructional Coaching for Early Childhood Education Track 2023-24 Tools Competition.

Dr. Geoffrey Maruyama, Professor Emeritus, recently received the 2024 Distinguished Service to SPSSI Award. This prestigious award is given by the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.

The Department of Educational Psychology once again had a strong showing on the 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate School annual rankings. These rankings continue a history of strong showings for the department, with special education named the 10th best in the nation, while educational psychology rose to seventh place.

Dr. Sam Choo, assistant professor in the special education program and president-elect of the technology division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), hosted several events at the CEC 2024 Special Education Convention & Expo in San Antonio.
