Ed Psych alumni, Amy Paton and Richard Olson, honored with Distinguished Alumni Awards
On November 14, the Distinguished Alumni Awards honored graduates from the College of Education and Human Development. Amy Paton and Richard Olson from the Department of Educational Psychology, were chosen because of their track record of achievement and excellence in their careers.
Amy Paton's work as an elementary school counselor revolves around teaching emotion regulation, coping strategies, social skills, and anxiety management. Paton has worked in the Osseo Area Schools for 20 years and was integral in developing the therapy dog program in the district. She is also passionate about giving back to Ed Psych's school counseling Master's program.
Richard Olson, founder of the Olson Consulting Group, specializes in executive coaching and appraisal, using his PhD in educational psychology to help develop approaches to feedback and selection testing. In 2023, Dick was appointed to be a fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Consulting Psychology Division and currently is on the advisory board for the industrial/organizational psychology graduate program at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
