Turner elected to Fellow status in the American Psychological Association

Professor Sherri Turner, PhD

Sherri Turner, PhD, a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology’s counselor education program, has been named a 2022 Society of Counseling Psychology Fellow by the American Psychological Association (APA), Division 17.

According to their website, the Society of Counseling Psychology (APA Division 17), bestows the fellowship “upon members who have made ‘unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology.’ [that have]… enriched or advanced Counseling Psychology well beyond the level that normally would be expected of a professional psychologist. Fellows are selected by their peers on the basis of evidence of sustained superior performance that is recognizable at a national level.”

Professor Turner, researches how to help young people successfully pursue careers that are both personally satisfying and critical to the well-being of their communities and society at large. Her research areas of interest include: methods and factors that facilitate the career development of underrepresented and urban adolescents, Native American STEM career development, counseling/counseling psychology research, and currently, pandemic-related research.
