Seyma Birinci special ed PhD student, named CEC DR Doctoral Scholar
Seyma Birinci, a PhD student in the special education program in the Department of Educational psychology, has been named a DR Doctoral Scholar by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
Birinci was nominated by her advisor Kristen McMaster, Stern Family Professor of Reading Success and chair of the Department of Educational Psychology, for her academic record, professional promise, and current research proposal. Birinci’s dissertation research examines how teacher characteristics (including perceptions, attitudes, perceived control, self-efficacy, and data literacy) relate to their use of data for instructional decision-making.
According to the CEC website, the DR’s Doctoral Student Seminars in Special Education Research is an online seminar and discussion series designed to foster connections among doctoral students at different universities and to contribute to raising the standard of research in the field through sustained inquiry into the question, “What makes for excellence in special education research?”
