Romano receives PDGR award from UMRA
John L. Romano, professor emeritus in the Department of Educational Psychology’s counseling and student personnel psychology program, has been selected by the University of Minnesota Retirees Association (UMRA) to receive a 2020-21 Professional Development Grant for Retirees (PDGR) award for his project entitled “Prevention Science Counseling Psychology: 20 Years of Exceptional Growth.” Romano’s award was announced in mid-March by the Minnesota’s Office of the Vice President for Research. His proposal is highlighted in UMRA’s April 2020 Newsletter.
The PDGR program is a joint effort of UMRA and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Proposals for the program are considered each fall. Financial support is provided by a combination of funds from the provost and UMRA. The program offers grants of up to $5,000 to all University of Minnesota retirees to help them pursue projects related to their scholarship or professional development. Allowable expenses include travel and per diem costs related to research or conference attendance, stipends for undergraduate and graduate research assistants, and other relevant costs.
