Congratulations to our Department of Educational Psychology counseling and student personnel psychology (now counselor education) MA alumni who helped their schools apply for and join the Recognized ASCA (American School Counselor Association) Model Program (RAMP). Five of our alumni helped their schools achieve RAMP status in 2021, including: Amy Paton (Basswood Elementary-Osseo CSD); Rachel Lund (Garden City Elementary-Osseo CSD); Lara Haik (North View Middle School-Osseo CSD); Emily Colton (Battle Creek Elementary- Saint Paul CSD); and Katy Steinbach (Bruce Vento Elementary – Saint Paul CSD).

RAMP is a recognition program for individual schools based on the ASCA National Model. According to the ASCA website, applying for RAMP helps schools evaluate their school counseling program, discover areas for improvement, and enhance the program’s efforts to contribute to student success.

139 schools were recognized nationwide this year; only 15 schools in Minnesota have RAMP status.

The winners received their awards at the RAMP Gala in Las Vegas on July 13, 2021.

Alumni Callie Sopwinik also earned RAMP status for her school (Adams Spanish Immersion Elementary – Saint Paul CSD) in 2020.
