Members of the Department of Educational Psychology's special education program, Amy Hewitt and Frank Symons, have received awards at The American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) annual meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.

At the meeting, Amy Hewitt, professor, was awarded the 2024 Leadership Award for her courage and dedication to contributing to the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Frank Symons, Emma Birkmaier Education Leadership Professor, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Policy, and Distinguished McKnight University Professor, was awarded the 2024 Research Award. According to the AAIDD, this award is given to individuals who have contributed significantly to scientific knowledge in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
