My research explores the development and implementation of brief assessments in mathematics that can be used to monitor student progress. My research in this area has spanned early numeracy (K-1) and middle grades (6-8); my current work explores the development and implementation of measures for beginning algebra. I have directed three federal grants supporting this work and served on the author panels for two IES practice guides related to mathematics, Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Response to Intervention (RtI) for Elementary and Middle Schools, and Teaching Strategies for Improving Algebra Knowledge in Middle and High School Students.
